FREE Public Cholesterol Screenings

Central Coast Pathology is now offering a FREE cholesterol test to anyone in the community at any of our Patient Service Centers.
  • Yes, it is truly FREE!
  • You must be over 18
  • Only one test annually
  • You do not need an appointment
  • You can go to any of our Patient Service Centers during open hours
  • The results will be mailed to you directly (no results will be sent to any doctors), and you will be responsible for following up on the results

The Oncology Symposium

Central Coast Pathology's hematopathologists, Drs. Mick Frost and Kevin Ferguson, conduct a monthly oncology conference to discuss cases of particular interest with the oncologists from San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. Conferences are held at Avila Beach Golf Resort - McPhees Grill.

March 1, 2010 - Joseph M. Tuscano, M.D., Asst. Professor at UC Davis Cancer Center will present Latest Treatment Approaches with Rituxan.

November 2, 2009 - Ben Ebrahimi, M.D., Director, Clinical research Wilshire Oncology Medical Group, Inc. Dr. Ebrahimi will present A case-based approach: The use of Avastin (Bevacizumab) based therapy in metastatic colorectal cancer. Case presentation to follow program.

October 5, 2009 - Robert Dillman, FACP, M.D., Medical and Scientific Director at Hoag Cancer Center in Newport Beach. Dr. Dillman will present Management Strategies for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Case presentation will follow the program

September 14, 2009 - Howard Muntz, M.D., Gynecologic Oncologist at Women's Cancer Care of Seattle, WA. Dr. Muntz will present Updates in Advanced Ovarian Cancer. Relevent case presentation will follow the lecture.

August 3, 2009 - ASCO update presented by:
Sandeep K. Reddy, MD, Los Alamitos Hematology/Oncology and Clinical Associate Professor UCLA.

June 1, 2009 - Jon M. Greif, D.O., F.A.C.S., Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Greif will be presenting on Recent Advances in Gene Expression Profiling for Early Stage Breast Cancer Detection.

May 4, 2009 - Wen-Kai Weng, M.D., PhD, Staff Physician and Assistant Professor at Stanford University. Dr. Weng will be presenting on The Molecular Basis of Cancer: Fundamental and Evolving Concepts in Hematologic Malignancies.

April 6, 2009 - David Hicks, M.D., Director of Surgical Pathology/ Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of Rochester. This meeting will feature a presentation on HER2-Positive Breast Cancer: Diagnostic Tools and Challenges.
Relevent case presentations will follow the lecture.

March 2, 2009 - Johnny K. Chang, M.D. from Hematology Oncology Medical Group of San Fernando Valley and Asst, Clinical Professor at UCLA School of Medicine will be presenting on "Emerging Evidence: The Importance of Histology in Lung Cancer". Case presentations will follow the lecture.

Tri-County Dermatology Society

The Tri-County Dermatologic Society meets each month to discuss problematic and/or interesting cases, presented with pediatric patients, who are examined in a clinical environment by the society's attendees. A dinner discussion of the cases follows the examination period. Occasionally a speaker presents a treatment-related lecture. The society is comprised of highly skilled dermatologists from the San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties, and the dematopathologists who direct Western Dermatopathology, a subdivision of Central Coast Pathology.

Linnea Chap, M.D., Clinical Associate Professor at UCLA. Dr Chap will be presenting a combined Avastin/Herceptin program. Herceptin will be discussed in the adjuvant setting (for breast cancer), and, Avastin will be discussed for the treatment of HER2 negative metastatic breast cancer patients.
Mick Frost, M.D., Board Certified Hematopathology, Anatomic and Clinical Pathology will be presenting relevant cases following the speaker.
